Mariah lands in Brazil - 08/19/10

Oh Dear... I know I've been gone, but trust me... I'm still working on that 20 year review that I will post soon.

Meanwhile, our Diva landed in a very special place (my home country) today for her much anticipated concert in Barretos, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

I have to say that the first time I heard from my friend Alis that there was some speculation about Mariah singing at the Rodeo Show in Barretos, I was skeptic. But the more I heard about it, the more concrete it became that Mariah would actually do her very first open concert in Brazil!

For her arrival at the Hotel Fasano, she wore a simple A Pea in the Pod brown spaghetti strap halter maxi dress from their maternity collection, with an orange cardigan, Giuseppe Zanotti heels and Tom Ford shades.

These are the original shoes, but Mariah has the heel version on, instead of the wedges.

After a long hiatus it's good to see Mariah again! She glows here and her hair looks abso-great! :)

Hello everyone!

This week, The Mariah Carey Fashion Style blog celebrates its Second Anniversary!

In no way, shape or form, I would have been able to come this far without your support! I wanted to thank you all so much for reading the blog, and voting, and leaving comments. It really means a lot to me.

Being able to write this blog combines both of my passions: fashion and Mariah. I've been into fashion since I can't remember and an avid "lamb" since 1997, when 'My All' was in the soundtrack of a soap opera back in Brazil, where I am from. Growing up among seamstresses and following the creative process from buying the fabric to creating an outfit, really made me more and more interested in the fashion world. And as I followed Mariah's career, it only made sense to me to start this blog and offer my take on her fashion style. It's been an interesting ride to see Mariah grow and change (or not) her style!

I wanted to apologize for being so out of time and not updating the blog as often as I would like. I am working with www.lambsgohard.com to create a review of these 20 years of her career to celebrate such an achievement as well as the anniversary of the blog! Stay tuned!

What a coincidence! Just as I found out that the beaded gown Mariah wore during the Angels Advocate Tour was by Jean Fares, I was surprised to find the designer of the robes too.

After much search, here it is!

It's with great excitement that I post this update. Last night, browsing around, I ran into a very sophisticated designer: Jean Fares. The Lebanese designer has gained wide success among Hollywood A-Listers, so it was no surprise for me to find out that Mariah is part of that list.

This beautiful heavy beaded silver gown worn by our Diva during the Angels Advocate Tour is from the designer's couture collection. Mariah looked stunning in it!

It's just too bad his website runs on FlashPlayer 8, so I can't check other seasons and most of the sessions dont really work on my laptop.

Two other celebrities have also worn this dress. Take a look.

Former Extra co-host Dana Devon was the first one to wear this gown on February 22, 2009 while hosting the Oscars.

Actress Tatyana Ali dazzled at the red carpet of the 41st NAACP Awards on February 26, 2010.

Mariah and Nick were spotted outside a medical clinic in L.A. on 05/11. Mariah looked comfortable in sweatshirt and rolled up sweatpants. She "diva'd it up" with YSL Tribute Sandals and YSL Patent Handbag.
She completed the look with Tom Ford sunglasses and natural curly 'do!

Mariah arrived at the Keepers of the Dream Awards dazzling in this modified Herve Leger by Max Azria Spring 2010.

This is the perfect figure flattering dress and here are the whys:

1. It's black
2. It's one shoulder
3. It's made of layers of bandages, therefore it hugs the body in all the right places
4. Notice the little detail on the waist accentuating the waist line

Mariah was seeing celebrating Easter last week on a surfboard surrounded by her dogs. (the one on the upper left looks ghost-y!)
Even in water, Mariah kept it classy and trendy in this one-piece Lisa Marie Fernandez Swim Collection.

The piece, entitled "The Farrah", is made of nylon and spandex with a layer of 100% Chloroprene (ruber).

I thought she looked great. This is a great outfit, it's sexy, revealing, yet, not so out there. What do you think?

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MC!!

Mariah celebrated her 12th Anniversary at her house in LA in style. Relaxed, but still trendy she wore this beautiful Emilio Pucci Beachwear 2010.

Instead of wearing it as a one-shoulder, she opted for a off-shoulder style, which I still love. This jersey dress is a perfect option for a LA festive party. I'm sure she had the bikini that went with it as well. Thanks to Love B. Scott for the pictures.

The dress is currently available at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Hello All!
I was one of the not-so-lucky lambs that didn't get a chance to watch Mariah live in concert while she was on the Angels Advocate Tour. However, that didn't stop me from watching the fashion aspect of it as pictures were posted on MariahDaily. I really didn't think that she had had so many wardrobe changes throughout the tour, until I put all the pictures together. Let's run through them and take a look.

After the kick off in New York at the Madison Square Garden, Mariah's next stop was Atlantic City. She kept the wardrobe almost the same with a few additions.

She came down the swing in a white dress that had a white corset with rhinestones and a voluminous white tulle skirt. The outfit was designed by Blair Levin.

After the "Butterfly" Intro, she removed the tulle skirt to reveal a sexy mini white dress. That is the same dress she wore in NYC for the New Year's concert.

She left the stage in the middle of "Make it Happen" and came back in a gorgeous silver sequin gown. She sang "Make it Happen", "Angels Cry", "Subtle Invitation", "It's Like That" and "The Impossible".
She leaves the stage and comes back wearing a short and sexy red Dolce & Gabbana number that is a short version of the one she wore at the TeenNick Halo Awards.

She performed "Heartbreaker/Love Hangover", "Honey", "It's a Wrap", and "My All" in this dress. She had wardrobe change and came back on stage in another Dolce & Gabbana.

Does this one look familiar? If you can't remember, click here. It's the same dramatic D&G dress that she wore at the Fashion Rocks in Brazil back in October '09. She wrapped the concert in this dress by singing "Emotions", "Obsessed", "ABMB", "WBT", and "Hero".

When she performed in New York, she only wore the mini red dress, the short white one and the sequin gown.

The next time we see a change in wardrobe is in Connecticut on 01/15. She came down the swing wearing a custom made gold corset with the white tulle skirt.

Later in the concert, she skirt was removed, and a short ruffled gold skirt was revealed as a dress. She had some great shoes there too!!

The white short dress was replaced by a short sequined silver dress. I was surprised when I saw Mariah in this dress. It looked very much like the dress she wore at the Time 100 Gala (back in May 08), which was by Roberto Cavalli. Pamella Rolland also had a dress in her Fall 2009 collection, so it's hard to tell whose this one by. I'd say Cavalli would be a safe bet. She also added a shrug by Paule Ka Marabou.
Another gown that was present in quite a few shows was this black Donna Karan sequin gown. This is the black version of the crimson gown she wore for the Capri Hollywood International Film Festival. Take a look here.

On the second concert in that venue, Mariah wore a robe for the first time, as shown below.
On 01/19, after performing in Atlanta, Mariah is seeing wearing Valentino Spring 2010 for the first time.
Here's a front view of the dress. Sunglasses are by Tom Ford.

At the Detroit concert, we see Mariah wearing a full ruffled gold skirt for the first time when she comes down the swing in the beginning of the show. Cameras were not allowed in this concert, but we can see that by the picture below.

And it seems like she didn't wear the black Donna Karan gown. Instead, she opted for this Herve Leger Spring 2010 that she wore for the Palm Springs Film Festival as well.

In D.C., she was seen wearing the same gown after the concert.

Next stop was Philadelphia on 02/01 and here Mimi is seen wearing the Pamella Rolland gown I mentioned before.

She did not wear the silver sequined gown she did in previous shows. She wore Moncler down jacket to meet and greet fans.
For the Toronto show, she added a little black dress to shoot the video for her song "100%". The jersey dress was a nice body hugging dress with sequin details on the shoulders.

Designer is unknown to me.

The next concert was in Columbus, OH and we can see some different ensembles here.

She did not wear Donna Karan. Instead, she wore the Herve Leger number she wore for the Golden Globes. Again, I really like this column dress. It giver her a nice shape and I don't think the cleavage reveals that much! She looked great.

She put a different robe on this time, instead of the white one she'd worn before. This looks like Gucci to me, but I could be wrong.

For the Chicago concerts on 02/13-14, she wore a hot red Dolce & Gabbana dress instead of the short metallic silver one. She wrapped herself in a black shrug to shelter from wind. T

For the Dallas concert, Mariah opted for this Tadashi Shoji Spring 2010 mini metallic dress instead of the long sequined gown.

The last change that I noticed was on the LA concerts. From there on, she picked this beautiful beaded gown by Pamella Roland from the Spring 2010 collection.

She basically kept the same ensembles for the following three concerts.

I think I covered all of them I hope you have enjoyed this as much as I did! I could not find the designer of the sequined gown she wore, so if you do know, I'd appreciate that information.

Mariah at the 82nd Academy Awards - 03/07/10

Mariah dazzled the red carpet at the 82nd Academy Awards in navy Valentino gown. The jersey dress had a pleated bodice and a (very) high slit that showed "The Rarity". The girl was dripping diamonds with encrusted bracelets by H. Stern and earring by Chopard. Her make up looked great, minimal yet elegant and wavy hair. She completed the look with right-on-trend Christian Louboutin nude heels.

Mariah at the 25th Film Independent Spirit Awards - 03/05/10

Mariah attended the Independent Spirit Awards to support the cast of the movie Precious. She walked the red carpet looking dazzling in this short Valentino Spring 2010 LBD. These ruffles are the signature look in the current collection of the designer and they are rather flattering.

She wore black patent skyscraper high heels that I think are Giuseppe Zanotti. Mariah must love those shoes because they are a compilation of all the shoes she's ever worn! They're patent black leather, platforms, peep toes, and high, extremely high!
I bet we'll see her wearing these for a while.
But, what's more interesting here is what I found on Net-A-Porter .

The dress is worn backwards to how Mariah did! I wonder how it's actually supposed to be worn, because Mariah sure looks great!

Aw! It feels me with joy to finally be able to post this! After incessant quest in seach of Mariah's platform shoes, it finally hit me that it looked a lot like what I had seen in the Salvatore Ferragamo Spring collection runaway debut.
Sure enough, I went back today, and there it was...

OMG, these shoes are so amazing! I'm drooling over them! They used to be available at luisaviaroma.com but I'm not sure if they still are. They are 15cm high!!!

WOW! Mariah is really keeping up with this award season! For the SAGs, she was up with the trend: Red Gowns. This beautiful (David Meister?!) one-shouldered crimson gown. She matched all her accessories with the gown, keeping them "simple" in red and diamonds. I love the chandelier earrings. The encrusted bag looks like Jimmy Choo.
I think she looks absolutely gorgeous, deserving of a position in the Best Dressed list. However, to be quite honest, I like the Golden Globes look better. What do you think?

Mariah at the Golden Globes Awards - 01/17/10

Mariah attended the Golden Globes to support Precious, and the cast, especially Mo'nique and Gabi who were up for Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress respectively.

There was a lot of buzz concerning Mariah's dress: there was too much cleavage, it was to tight, we've seen this before, blah, blah, blah... Listen, people. You all need to get over yourselves. This is Mariah's style. She's got GREAT assets, she might as well flaunt them! Plus, she's not even putting them out there, it's cleavage! It's supposed to show them!

To me, she totally owned this modified Herve Leger Fall 2009 gown.
It flattered her body, really accentuating the hour glass shape. She completed the look with black clutch and diamonds. And boy was she dripping diamonds!
I'm glad she didn't put a necklace! It would've ruined the look!

Mariah vacationing in Antigua - 01/12/10

I couldn't help post this. When I saw this picture, I thought to myself "She's a true diva. She keeps it classy even when on vacation".
Her beach look was paired with Louis Vuitton Candid Sandal wedges, that I think are SO Mariah!

It also comes in black, red and orange. I bet we'll see Mariah wearing at least the black version of it sometime soon.

Mariah at the People's Choice Award - 01/06/10

I was very surprised when Mariah won Favorite R&B Artist. I was extremely excited as I do think she deserves it, but I thought Beyonce was going to win it.
To receive her award, Mariah looked incredible, her hair was so beautiful, her makeup was flawless.
When I first looked at this dress, it threw me right back to Oscars 1999. But this time, it is right, it looks right. The fabric is perfect, there's no gather, just sequins all over the dress. This Ysa Makino dress was just a great choice. I wouldn't have thought of it, but another example that Mariah does dress up!

Mariah at Palm Springs Film Festival - 01/05/10

Mariah harvested one more fruit from her role in "Precious". She received the Breakthrough Actress Performance Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival. To me, that was a big slap in the face for all of those who wrote Mariah off after Glitter! Take that!
Anyway, she walked the red carpet wearing this beautiful black Herve Leger Resort 2010 gown. Surprisingly, she tried to cover up with a black shrug, that looked like sleeves to the dress.
I think I like this dress better on the model. The fact that the shoulders are exposed and the hair is pulled back doesn't mess with the person's height. On Mimi's case, I guess it made her look shorter.
Nonetheless, Mariah's body can still rock a Herve Leger!

Mariah at the New Year's After Party - 01/01/10

As expected, Mariah and Nick would throw an "after party" after the party at the MSG. Mariah wore a metallic Roberto Cavalli mini-dress that she wore at the 100 Most Influential People Party last year.
She kept it all silver and white with silver heels and diamonds jewels.

I posted this picture because it shows so much happiness. I guess she's got a lot to be thankful for. 2009 was a great year for her career. Congratulations Mariah!

Mariah performs at the Madison Square Garden - 12/31/09

Mariah rang in the New Year and kicked off her tour in great style at the Madison Square Garden. In Holiday mood, she first appeared on stage suspended in a red sled amidst a sea of red tule!

Once down, she took the tule off to reveal a very sexy, body hugging figure flattering pleated red (Dolce & Gabbana) dress. She looked awesome and I particularly love her hair here. She kept it simple with diamonds bracelet and slingback platform sandals matching.

Later in the show, she changed into this nude mermaid sequined dress, that I love. I just don't think the "girls" are being held up up there. The bust looks like a night gown.

For the last wardrobe change, she flaunt "the rarity" in this mini strapless beaded white dress (by Blair Levin?).
I can't express how much I love her hair! It looks absolutely wonderful!

Mariah at Heathrow Airport, London - 12/29/09

On her way back to the US, Mariah left Capri right after the award ceremony. She was seeing in her connection in London wearing, again, all black, including Prada jacket and the Louis Vuitton Mini Noe Rococo bag. Very casual, just like any flight requires. Except for the high heels, but hey, if that's what works for her... whatever makes her happy! :)

JAW DROPPING MOMENT!!

This is the best Mariah has looked since Cannes, when she wore black Dolce & Gabbana gown.
I was stunned when I saw the pictures. In one second I recognized this dress.
The deep purple sequin dress is by Donna Karan. The reason I know this dress is because it's been work by both supermodel Iman and Eva Green. Take a look here.
Now, of course Mariah had to accentuate her assets. I really like what I see here, better than in other two occasions. She, or most likely Blair, rolled up the straps of the halter top all the way down instead of the original version, shown below.
She looked absolutely stunning. Her hair looked great, with wavy locks and really shiny, her make-up was gorgeous (Great Job Chris!)
To wrap it all up, she wore a custom made Paule Ka Marabou shrug.

Mariah at the Capri Hollywood International Film Festival Press Conference - 12/28/09

The success of the movie Precious has yield in many nominations for Mariah as best supporting actress, including at the Capri, Hollywood International Film Festival.
She had an interesting wardrobe choice, picking blue button-up shirt, jeans and killer boots.
I would expect a dress, even if it was around the knees. More so than jeans. But oh well.

Mariah the Heathrow Airport, London 12/27/09

Mariah and Nick were spotted in London en route to Capri, where she would receive the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Capri, Hollywood International Film Festival. Wearing black from head to toe, she opted for a Moncler jacket with fur on collar and cuffs, black leggins and Stella McCartney boots.
Here she's seen for the first time carrying Louis Vuitton Mini Noe Rococo bag from the Cruise 2010 collection.
This little bag has thousands of soft sequins with the LV logo on them.
And it costs ONLY $2490. I love the rope details on it.

Mariah was there to support Nick on the award show that he created to recognize kids that make a difference in our community.
For a change, Mariah didn't wear black. Instead, she worked this beautiful red silk Dolce & Gabbana. My jaw dropped when I saw the pictures. The gatherings hug her body on all the right places. Her makeup and hair look great! I think she's really starting to wear more gowns now for the award season, which is great!

For the Record - Mariah at the launch of VEVO

So Mariah attended the VEVO Launch in New York as I had previously posted. My assumptions were confirmed when I found the dress she wore at the Dolce & Gabbana website.

A lot of dresses in the Fall Collection were right on the knee, which I think elongates the silhouette. However, for Mariah, because she wore tights and over the ankle boots, her dress would have looked a tad better if it were above the knee.

I guess Mariah had some last minute shopping to do when she was spotted looking at kids' toys. For her last minute shopping, she wore yet another Moncler jacket, black leggings and yet another pair of Dior boots. Moncler jackets are extremely warm as they are made with 100% down fill. Now, Mariah being Mariah, it surprises me how much she loves those Dior boots since they are flat.
She coordinated her wool scarf, which I think is by Gucci, with J.J.'s leash.

Mariah and Nick out and about in Aspen - 12/23/09

Mariah and Nick were all around town during Christmas time. Here, they were shopping at the Gucci store, Mariah holding a Dior bag.
Still color coordinating with Nick, Mariah wore white puffer jacket, jeans and Giuseppe Zanotti boots.

As traditional every year, Mariah escaped to the cold yet festive Rocky Mountains for the Holidays. Here she was spotted out and about in Moncler "Georgia" puffer jacket, jeans and Gianmarco Lorenzi Suede Boots. I love those boots, but I'm not sure if they are going with the look.
Her hair looks flaaaaaaaaawless. I guess at night, she went out to dinner and Mariah Daily posted the picture below:
I really think that ponytails accentuate her traits and she should really sport this look more often!

Mariah attended the launch of VEVO, the premiere destination for music videos, and even cancel her trip to Germany to be there.
She wore, again, all black from head to toe. I'm not sure who's the designer of the dress. I'm thinking Dolce & Gabbana maybe? The dress was one inch too long for me, especially because she was wearing tights and those high boots.
I love the boots by the way; they are from the Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 collection!

Mariah looked great at the UNICEF Snowflake ball when she walked the blue carpet in this black deep neckline mermaid gown. I love the diagonal lines on this dress, as it plays with Mariah's curves making her look slimmer.

Mariah was (a little late) very excited about turning the lights of Westfield London! I think this was one of her greatest looks last year. She totally worked that gray and I absolutely love it! Black top, black leggings, Balmain by Giuseppe Zanotti boots and gray cropped cardigan! I don't know who the designer is for that cardigan, but it looks very well done and a great knitwear.

Mariah leaving the George V Hotel - 11/17/09

Mariah left the George V Hotel on her way back to London wearing black leggings, her bootie-of-the-moment by Giuseppe Zanotti and a Louis Vuitton 3/4 sleeve coat.
By the way, if you are a lamb like me who will get a once in a lifetime chance to go to France, you should definitely do the Mariah Tour, that includes the George V Hotel, Alexander III birdge (where she shot Say Something) and the Louis Vuitton store on Champs Elysees. I remember when I went in the store and I found the location below.
I really freaked out when I sat on that red bench...

Mariah Promo touring in France 11/16/09

Mariah was also in France to promote her new album. Here she was caught leaving the Boef Sur Toit restaurant with hubby Nick Cannon. I know we can't see much, but I just absolutely love that Herve Leger Bandage dress she's wearing. The color is so vibrant!
I was wondering which shoes she wore with the outfit and I was happy to find the picture below that shows a tiny bit of them.

They are the black version of these very warm looking Gucci boots.

After shooting her appearance on the X Factor Italy, Mariah boarded on the"BBJ" on her way to London. She kept the glam going with a LBD and added a wool coat "loosely" tied and Jimmy Choo sunglasses. Shoes are, of course, Louboutins.
I think she was comfortable, she looks great and it was short flight. She has been dressing very casually for her flights lately, so she might not have had time to change that time.

It seems like someone forgot to update this blog!!
Let's wrap up updating the European tour, which by now seems so long ago!
In Milan, Mariah stepped out of Four Seasons Hotel looking very casual in black tights, pink top and black cardigan.
She still rocked YSL Patent Leather bag and Jimmy Choo sunglasses.
Her booties look like Giuseppe Zanotti, which is also an educated guess since that's one of her favorite shoe designers. I could be wrong though.
I didn't find them anywhere, but remember that Mariah has shoes made almost exclusively for her, which makes my life harder when I can't find the shoes anywhere!
I love the look and the curly hair, believe it or not. Her skin looks so flawless!

Mariah arrives in Italy - 11/11/09

Mariah arrived in Milano today to promote her new album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. She kept the same outfit she wore last night for the appearance on David Letterman, which isn't typical of Mariah. She switched the brown tights for a burgundy leather coat, that she has worn before in 2003 during a visit to France. Take a look.

I really preferred this outfit with the tights. What do you guys think?

Before taking off to Italy on promo tour, Mariah stopped by the CBS studios to tape an appearance on the David Letterman Show. It's always a fun show when Mariah stops by so I can't wait for this one!
For her appearance, Mariah went all brown in a 3/4 sleeve V-neck knit dress with brown tights and brown version of Gucci's Lockhart Ankel Buckel Boots. (Yes, it is ankel buckel! lol)
The Kiki di Montaparnasse wraps the look with a nice accentuating effect.
V-Necks really work for Mariah!

Mariah on the set of H.A.T.E.U. Video - 11/05/09, 11/06/09

Mariah seems to be pretty busy these days shooting the video for H.A.T.E.U., the upcoming single from her new album The Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. She was seeing on the Malibu beach on Thursday wearing 2 one-piece bikinis, one black, one white.

She wore a deep plunge one-piece bikini with Christian Louboutin heels. I believe this is a black version of the one presented in the Marc Bouwer Spring 2010 collection.
Later on, she was spotted wearing a white Herve' Leger Spring 2009 bikini.

She really likes this type of strap, sort of like halter. I look at this bikini and it reminds me of the dresses she wore during the "The Adventures of Mimi Tour".

Today, she was spotted in New York wearing Herve' Leger Bateau-Neck Bandage Dress with tights and Gucci Lockhart Buckel Ankel Boots.

I am so loving those boots... They look extremely comfortable and warm.

She then changed into leather jacket and that works: the jacket, the dress, the tights, the boots... it totally works here creating a very sophisticated look.

I can't wait to see the video!

Mariah at the AFI Fest "Precious" Screening - 11/02/09

Remember the Rainbow era when Mariah wore ripped off jeans and crochet tops? Or the Charmbracelet era when she had those suede hoodies that she wore for Promo Tour? Or the bomber jackets from E=MC2?
So I think right now Mariah is going through an all-black phase with this new album.

Here we see her wearing this beautiful Zac Posen Resort 2008 mermaid dress.
I really like this dress as the patchwork on it favors and accentuates the waist. I'm glad she went for a longer version of the dress. The accessories were minimum which drew attention to her hair and make up, both of which were flawless!

First of all, did anybody else think that Mariah would sing for Versace based on her friendship with Donatella or that was just me?

Second of all, if you sing for a designer's runway show, wouldn't it seem obvious that the singer would wear her/his clothes?

I can be wrong, but this dress seems to me very much like Dolce & Gabbana signature corset dress.
I honestly think the dress is beautiful and I thought it looked very cool when she walked across the stage and it seemed like the she was floating because of the dress skirt. I just wish she would have gone up a size.

I don't want to go too much into the details of the performance but when I heard the intro of Fantasy I went CRAZY!!! Touch My Body & Obsessed LIVE... O-M-G!
I wish she would have changed her dress into something lighter for Touch My Body and Obsessed, like the number below from Calvin Klein Fall 2009.

Overall, I think she looked great. Kudos for trying the wavy hair. Rio de Janeiro is very humid and she usually goes with a curlier do. I think it worked and she looked awesome!

Back to work, Mariah arrived in Rio wearing nothing that resembles extravaganza. She looked very comfortable yet urban chic in striped top, black leggings with lace open toe boots that added a whole different edge to this look. Remember that she had just flown in from JAPAN!!! I think she looks great!
One interesting fact is that she wore that same blouse back in December 2006 while shopping at the Dior store in Rodeo Drive.

I think it's cool when an International artist goes to another country and tries to make him or herself appealing to that culture. I guess the word wouldn't even be appealing, but fitting, or respectful, I guess.

Mariah arrived in Japan to promote her new album wearing Herve' Leger bright red dress with black coat and Gucci platform heels. That is a very nice red on her.
The advantage of wearing Herve' Leger is that you can always show how great you look, by looking sexy, revealing your curves and look classy. Mariah shows just enough skin here to look elegant yet sexy.
I like the wavy hair to the side and what I also am liking are those Tom Ford Raquel sunglasses!

It's been a while since the last time we saw Mariah in Herve' Leger.

Well, she rocked this long sleeved number with front zipper for Nick's 29th Birthday Party at The Bank with Gucci platforms. I think she looked great and bandage dresses are known for really showing off a woman's figure. I'm not disappointed at Mariah at all. Her body looks amazing.

Of course, the hemline is higher than the version that went to stores.

I only wish she would have picked another color, even though I think this dress only came out in black.

Mariah attended the New York Film Festival earlier this month for the screening of Precious. She walked the red carpet dazzling in (what seems to be an) American Apparel U-neck mini dress. She enhanced "the rarity" by "stepping in her Jimmy Choos" and "yeah she got it all cute".

I think she looks absolutely great. The ensemble is sort of predictable, but it still works.I really like the fact that she didn't wear black tights and showed off her legs. Her hair looks amazing.
The only downfall for me: the bra showing... :(

Mariah performs at the "Today Show" - 10/02/09

Mariah stopped by the Today Show earlier this month to promote her new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.
She performed "Make it Happen" and also songs from the new album. It was a nice concert but I still don't get the whole lifting dance in "Obsessed"; it looks kind of pointless to me, but I love H.A.T.E.U.! Love, love, love it!
Anyway, after endless search for the designer of this dress, I gave up. She wore a body hugging draped black dress with black tights and Christian Louboutin boots. I'm fine with the dress, the boots and the jewelery, but her bangs really weren't done right. However, I do think that the hair color looks just perfect on her.

Mariah promotes "Forever" at Macy's - 09/29/09

Mariah had a wardrobe change and headed to Macy's to promote her new fragrance, Forever. Is it just me or does this picture really throw us back to the E=MC2 era?
Anyway, she picked a new leather jacket, which I like. Her hair was the same style, which I like. However, I'm not feeling the white-top-under-black-top part. Can anyone see the effect it causes? And honestly, if you're going to wear leggings, please make sure your top is long enough to cover everything that needs to be covered.
Her peep-toe booties are by Gucci.

YAY! Mariah stopped by the Today Show to promote her new album the day the album dropped. She looked GREAT in dark denim and cropped leather jacket with a wide belt. It's too bad that we didn't get a close-up on her shoes, because the seemed to be amazing. I am assuming they are Giuseppe Zanotti.
I absolutely adored this look, especially her hair. She looked radiant and the leather jacket really pulled this whole look together for me; she worked it well.

"For the Record" - Mariah at the TIFF Press Conference

I remember when I posted this back in September, I was trying to find the designer of those shoes, that at that point I really wasn't fond of.
Well, I did find out that those are Louis Vuitton Cherie Ankle Strap Sandals from the Fall 2009 collection. They're made of suede and lambskin leather.Take a look.

Looking at the picture with Mariah in them, it sort of reminds me of the shoes Mariah used to wear in the mid 90's. I find them extremely high, which really isn't a bad thing, but also uncomfortable. It's not that I've tried them on but I can't imagine that that suede on the sole will make anything comfortable. Plus, they look too chunky.
What do you guys think?

I was surprised that I only saw Mariah on the USA Today by the end of that day at work. I immediately started reading the article and I was very happy with it. The picture showed a fresh and beautiful Mariah, with her curly hair flailing to the wind... Ok, I'm done.

Mariah wore head-to-toe brown and continued to show her love for Gucci wearing a cute Heart Buckle Belt.
She also wore Gucci Iman Ankle Strap Platforms in brown. At this point in time I am over those shoes already!

I'm loving her earrings!!

Mariah and Nick at Shawn Pecas' Birthday Party - 09/23/09

Recapping Mariah's latest appearances, here she is at the Pink Elephant with Nick for Shawn Pecas Birthday Party.

Mariah wore a black 3/4 sleeve dress along with curly hair and devil eyes bracelet.
Her look was accessorized with Kiki de Montparnasse bandage belt, that I thought was super cool.

One would think that this could be by Herve Leger because of the bandages, but I found it online and was surprised it wasn't.

She stepped in Fendi cut-out suede booties to complete the look.

I like this look. It still is the same all-black look that we're used to seeing her in lately, but the belt really added some drama to the look and the shoes were kind of unexpected. ;)

OMG! OMG! OMG!
I am trying to pick my jaw up from the floor!

Mariah was one of the guests on Oprah's show on Sept. 18th to promote her new single and fragrance. I was going to put out a "I Wish You Knew" post and I'm glad I didn't because I wouldn't have come even close to what Mariah wore.

I don't know what Mariah was trying to channel, but I'll tell you what, IT WORKED! I love this whole outfit. I was not very fond of the curly hair in the beginning, but if this is how she's going to work it, then I am all for it. Her tight clothes were just tight enough to accentuate and flaunt her hour-glass figure! Her all-black outfit consisted of an off-the-shoulder top and leggings. To accessorize, Mariah had these drop-dead gorgeous Gucci Fall 2009 boots.

She also wore Trapezoid Shaped Buckle Gucci Fall 2009 belt that I am in love with.

I think it totally accentuates her curves, I just wish it was higher up her waist. I love that cuff, if anyone knows the designer, please let me know.

What do you guys think of this whole outfit? I think it's a great route Mariah is taking. It doesn't show much skin but still portrays that sexy side that Mariah always likes to play with. Kudos Mimi!!!

Mariah is starting some intense days of promotion now. She just performed two concerts in Las Vegas and had to rush to Canada for the TIFF for the screening of Precious. Mariah arrived wearing a black one shouldered long-sleeved Yeojin Bae Spring 2009 dress. I don't know what you guys think, but to me, she could have worked this dress much better.
First of all, how many times are we still going to see Mariah wearing a black one-shouldered dress?
Second of all, I'm sure the bra wasn't supposed to be seen, but it is. That type of bra didn't help in flattering her figure with this specific type of dress (one shoulder). There are one-shouldered bras out there already, and I strapless one was not a good choice.
Third, we've been seeing recreations of older pictures (Vision of Love single, butterfly artcover...)... is she trying to recreate that image again by sporting the curly do? Here's the thing, if you're going for curly, don't flatten the top, otherwise it looks heavy and out of proportion.
Finally, I am trying to like those shoes and find who the designer is, but I'm not succeeding at neither...

Just a quick note on the retrospective thing, I used to think it would be a great idea for Mariah to go back in time and wear the same dress, the same hair that she once did in a certain event... but now that I saw the two recreations, I don't know if I like it. I'm kind of in that let's-move-on mood... Mariah has just turned into a more mature, smart and beautiful woman that it's weird now for me to want her to be that same woman of over a decade ago. I enjoyed her and her style back then but now we've both grown and I understand where she is now. Mariah recreating herself is almost like she's her own idol looking back. Am I making any sense?

Fall is around the corner and I can already feel the chills, all the way up here in Montana.

Sorry I've been gone for so long. I was getting my life back on track and right now everything is going perfectly fine. "Love always wins." (Tuesdays with Morrie).

While I was gone, I, of course, could not stay away from fashion though. I love the Spring collections, because of the floral dresses, the bright colors, the short hems, the light fabrics… but there is no other season like Fall: the elegance of the heavier fabrics, the opulence of perfect cut coats, the luxury of black and dark colors, the extravagance of the couture dresses…

I searched about most of the Fall Collections, the major names, the big houses and I'll tell you that there are a lot of great pieces this season. I decided to bring to you the ones that I think would perfectly fit Mariah's taste and body. Tonight, I bring Azzaro, Burberry, DSquared2, Diane Von Furstenberg, Emanuel Ungaro, Elie Saab and Emilio Pucci. Let's take a look.

This is a stunning Azzaro dress. Mariah loves that type of V-neck and the embellishments definitely give an upgrade on the look to a more goddess feeling. I love this dress. It is one of my favorite pieces. Mariah could definitely wear this for a ballad performance.

Burberry makes the most beautiful urban coats ever. It seems like they never change their style, but who needs to when these are interseasonal? Mariah has a thing for coats too. She can wear shorts and a tank, but will always throw a coat on. I can't count how many times we've seen her in coats… or how many coats.

On the jacket department, I love this cropped one. This is a DSquared²look that I think is fantastic, but would never work for Mariah. However, I think the caramel piece is definitely something Mariah could wear for a TV appearance, for example. I despise those jeans, by the way.

I'm in love with Diane Von Furstenberg's Fall collection. This ensemble looks neutral yet sophisticated and chic. It's so New York. I have never seen Mariah in a turtle neck before, so I don't think she'd go for that, but I'd love to see a performance of "Obsessed" in those pants. I love them boots! The thing on the head…not so much!

Here's another piece from DVF's collection. Again, the thing on the head and socks with platforms are not doing it for me. But the black dress and the bracelets seem to me like they were even inspired by Mariah!

Emanuel Ungaro has successfully excelled in creating Ready-to-Wear pieces that have the geometry and the elegance of Couture dresses. Mariah has developed a taste for one-shouldered dresses recently and this pink number is really suitable for her. She might wanna lower the hemline a tad though. Or, it's Mariah, we never know. And no pink tights, please.

Elie Saab is another great designer that I absolutely adore. I drool over all of his pieces. I thought this little black dress would be a great pick for Mariah. It's very couture and she could totally rock it in a awards ceremony like Vibe Awards, or Billboard Awards. Black tights are acceptable here, indeed.

Mariah never disappoints me when she wears brown. I love the color on her. Every now and then, the outfit itself might not be the best, but the color suits her so well that I basically have to give her thumbs up. This is floor-length one-shouldered Emilio Pucci dress. I'd love to see Mariah in this.

Mariah was out and about a few days ago in LA talking on her Silver Berry. Mariah looked happy and beautiful sporting a messy wavy 'do that we haven't seen in a long time.
She wore a strapless python-print mini dress that is really not my favorite, but it looks casual and cute.
Her sunglasses are Gucci 3061V that have a little design on the frame.

Now, her shoes...
... are amazing! I think that by now everybody knows that I'm not only "obsessed" (no pun intended!) with Mariah but also with shoes.
Take a look at these babies!They're so beautiful! The heels are 5inches high, which is a hell lot of height! Love em!

Hi all,

I am so sorry I havent updated this recently. I have been going thru some very hard times in personal life and I wish I wasn't. It's been completely impossible for me to focus on anything else, even work, without having a thought of what I'm going thru now cross my mind.

I love Mariah, I love fashion, but right now I just can't do this.

I am hoping things go well for me, cause I just can't live like this anymore. it's not right.
This is not what I deserve, after all the devotion and dedication... it's been cruel.

I Wish You Knew - Fall 2009 shoes

Fall is kind of around the corner already... Well, not really but for the fashion industry it is almost a bygone season!
Anyway, I've been browsing around a lot lately, and I ran into some very fabulous shoes that I'd love to see Mariah wear.

The Versace are VERY Mariah, they're Versace, black, platforms, T-Straps... hum...
The Louboutins are a bit different, but I love the color...It'd go well with any neutral colors such as white, grey or black and a pair of jeans. It sure would give that pop! Or that "boom boom pow"! ahah
Fall is not fall without boots! This pair of Zanotti to me is my current favorite!! Nude is the latest trend in Hollywood and Mariah sure would fit right in with these!
Another favorite designer of Mimi is YSL! These boots are sure to be seen around in MIMI feet!
Jil Sander's knee high boot are GORGEOUS!! Mariah had her knee high boot era between 2001 and 2003. This would be a great way to bring that style back!
In the sandals department again, I thought these Givenchys were just perfect. Mariah usually doesn't wear animal prints for shoes, but these are very sexy and elegant. Very dangerous to match though. A Red dress would be perfect!
Stella McCartney's platform shoes look more like a Spring look, but I love the color, again nude. Last but not least, a very interesting pair of boots by Maison Martin Margiela. I love the cut out on the side. I'd love to see Mariah wearing these.

Now, I guess I'm going to have to have a post solely dedicated to Jimmy Choos! Look at these babies for example!!! OOOOHHH!

PS.: I still can't find the designer of those platforms Mariah wore for the Obsessed video. Anyone?!

Mariah & Nick at Cabana One at the Mayfair Hotel in Coconut Grove - 03/28/09

This is just a quick post that I saw in my "to post forlder".
Right after spending her "Anniversary" in Barbados, Mariah and Nick jumped on a plane and migrated to LA the next day, where Nick was DJing at Cabana One.
Mariah accompanied hubby in a short brown strapless Gucci Spring 09 dress.

Mariah has been wearing a lot of Gucci lately, especially their Spring Signature platforms. I love that she loves Gucci! She just doesn't embrace the edginess of the brand and thus keep her own "Mariah-ish" style! ;)

I've mourned MJ's pass even though I was not his biggest fan ever, but now it's time to look at the wardrobe choice for Mariah.
I love the dress, I think it's simple and the cascade of paillettes at the center looks really nice and gives that sophisticated feeling to the dress.
The only thing is, we are SO tired of seeing Mariah in that style of dress!!! At least I am. I love the dress, don't get me wrong, but I wish she'd done something different.
She looked great anyway, hands down! I LOVE THE NEW HAIR!!! The only thing that I think about it is that if she is going to take pictures from her right side, then those bangs won't work!

PS.: Despite blogs dissing her performance, I thought it was touching and memorable! There's no way to not get choked up when you're singing in front of MICHAEL JACKSON's casket. Mariah, I love you and I will always will! "You did the best you could with what you got" at that moment! No need to apologize girl! MJ was your friend.

Mariah shoots "Obsessed" video - 06/29/09

So Mariah is back on the scene, and I cannot wait to see this video!!!
These were the first photos that came out from the shooting of Obsessed. For the Plaza scene, Mariah wore a mini python print dress, with KILLER heels that I haven't found the designers. If someone knows, please let me know! I guess I saw them on Vogue, but can't remember who the designer is. AND I HATE THAT!! ahah

I guess the dress is Cavalli, since it's an animal print. I can't judge the look until I see the video, but I like it. It's brings out the youthfulness in Mariah. I just didn't get what was the yellow necklace she had on...

She topped everything off with Gucci aviators.

Then, there's this picture! Mariah has really fallen in love with her pair of Gucci Platforms! It seems like she "can't let go" of them!

YAY! Mariah's in London everyone. She's going to a Prince birthday party tonight and I'm dying to see what she's gonna wear.
For the arrival at the Dorchester Hotel, she proved that she is one of us. She looked very casual yet chic in black button shirt, (Louis Vuitton) jeans, and Yves Saint Laurent platforms. What I liked most about this outfit is the bag!!
This is patent leather Yves Saint Laurent Easy Zip Tote, that has a "Y" seam detail on the side and is available for sale online. It's a very simple bag but conveniently sized.
She finished to look with a drop-dead gorgeous pair of Roberto Cavalli Pirite Sunglasses with a sanke-like detail on the arm. LOVE THEM!

Oh Boy… I think Mariah knows what works best for her. Sometimes she sticks to it, sometimes she doesn’t. I guess a lot of people will find this ensemble boring because we’ve all seen it a thousand times before.

However, Mariah’s figure is perfect for this plunge neck pleated floor length black Roberto Cavalli gown. It beautifully fits her and it’s chic, elegant and very Mariah. This reminds me of her appearance on David Letterman back in 2005 when she wore Zac Posen Spring 2005, which is my favorite dress of all times.

I am so wowed! Her hair looks absolutely flawless and the extensions are not too much. She wore Giuzeppe Zanotti silver slingback heels.

PS.: On a side note, did anyone watch the video in which she was introducing Ms. Patti Labelle? I loooved that note she held when she called "Patti... Labeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelle!" Perfect. Reminded me of the anthem performance in 2001 at Superbowl.

Mariah at Fresh Air Fund Salute To American Heroes

As it happens every year, Mariah was an attendee at the annual Fresh Air Fund Salute to American Heroes.

She really stood out in the crowd in this white column George Chakra Couture gown, straight hair and silver jewelry.

In my opinion, white is a really difficult color to put on and I don’t think this is the best example of a beautiful white dress. The cut out flowers on the side are way too much for me.

I have to give props to Mariah for going couture, but it seems like every time she goes couture, she tends to get it wrong. Anyone remember Golden Globes 2006?

In all, my likes are: taking a risk, the jewelry, the makeup. Dislikes would include the dress itself, the hair and the shoes.

She wore a pair of Christian Louboutin Amelissa that she’s worn before, if you might recall Easter Sunday. I really wish she would’ve stepped up and wear something a little bit bedazzled such as this beautiful Giuseppe Zanotti strappy heels.

Mariah at the Mardan Palace Hotel launch party - 05/23/09

Our favorite travelah in the world made her way to Turkey to the opening of the most expensive resort in Europe, the Mardan Palace Hotel. Mariah, who's set to perform at the opening, wore Roberto Cavalli animal print dress for the cocktail reception. I know Nostagia doesn't like the Cavallis Mariah wear, but I love this one. First, because I hadn't seen this print in a floor-sweeping dress. Click here and here to see the versions available for online shopping. Second, because I think it's about time for Mariah to wear something more mature, yet, showing her sexy side. Look at the cleavage, it covers just about enough! I love it. And I love the snake detail too.
Now, what happened to her makeup is a whole different story.

I dont know about you, but to me, she looks sun burned a tad on cheeks and top of the forehead and her lipstick could have been a shade darker. Or I'd better say that someone got carried away with the concealer around her eyes. I guess it's just one of those things that look great until you get in front of a camera.

"When I Saw You" - 62nd Cannes Recap!

At this point, I am assuming everybody must be cleaning all the drooling off of their keyboards. SO AM I!

Boy, that was a weekend! I am still dazzled with all the dresses that Mariah wore in Cannes. She did not disappoint me for a second!
The dress she wore for the luncheon, which has been posted already, was the more casual one. I think it hadn't hit me that that was not her "red carpet" look. At that point, I really wasn't expecting much, but after seeing the pictures that came out, I'm truly fascinated with all the ensembles.

Mariah had a photoshoot at the 314 Hotel on Saturday, and she was caught arriving at the hotel!

She wore an eggplant Azzedine Alaia dress, with patent leather Azzedine Alaia platforms. She completed the look with, of course, a fabulous pair of Roberto Cavalli Opale 463S sunglasses. I love those! I want them! This is such a great look for her. Her straight hair looks so much better, and she's got the legs to wear this dress, so why not? It doesn't show too much, but it does hug her on all the right places, accentuating her 8-figure!

Then, there was the Red Carpet moment!

There's no doubt that everybody looked amazing, but Mariah was the real show stopper here. Mariah wore a killer, diva status Dolce & Gabbana gown with a bow on the waist, with satin clutch and Choppard jewelry. Her hair looked amazing compared to the luncheon! Mariah KNOWS how to work a red carpet when she has to. She poses just the right poses that will favor her figure. She carried a smile all the way, and she should. "Precious" was highly acclaimed and her role has been described as "astonishingly good". I can't wait to watch that movie!

Sure enough, there had to be an after-party.

The party, that took place at Roberto Cavalli's yacht, had a few guests, but I guess Mariah was the star.

She wore this large-patterned dress that had a chain detail on the top. The dress, as expected, is Roberto Cavalli from the Spring 2009 Menswear collection. This dress is so Mariah. She loves something that cover her front on the top and a long flowy skirt. I could fill a whole post with that type of dress. She began wearing that in 2005 during VH1 Save the Music. This is such a sexy dress, Mariah totally works it and she didn't even need those sunglasses, that are also Roberto Cavalli Corniola 445 S. I'm glad she didn't wear any jewelry with it but the earrings.

And then she left Cannes.

She wore this bright orange Ralph Lauren Resort 2009 halter neck dress, with Shimmer Comete Louis Vuitton bag, Christian Louboutin Amelissa Platform Sandals and Salvatore Ferragamo sunglasses. Looks comfortable.

The Anniversary Poll Results

Alright everyone,
As I told you all I just got back from the Wedding. It was really nice, I cried. The only bleak thing is that my tux was huge on me, definitely not the one from my fitting! Oh well...

So I'm exhausted but I promised myself that I'd post the results of the polls before I went to bed. For those excited about Cannes, I will post about it tomorrow!

Butterfly was the era Mariah came out of her cocoon, but nothing compares to the astounding success of The Emancipation of Mimi. When everybody had written her off after Glitter and poor sales of Charmbracelet, Mariah caught everyone off guard with the release of TEOM. As far as fashion goes, 2005/6 was a time that Mariah wore just about everything. From jeans and a tank to very expensive designer dresses to sports team customized dresses. Everybody wanted to have Mariah at their celebration and that required her to dress in so many different ways that it is hard to define the TEOM era as a one outfit era. I love everything about it: the shoes, the hair, the make up, the dresses... It was not her best year for her figure like we saw during E=MC2, but she still looked great.

BEST MUSIC VIDEO:

I can easily see why Honey won this category. Who doesn't remember the scene when Mariah comes out of the pool in a bikini (and her hair basically done!)? The chase scene is quite a classic, when Mariah is the only person that would ride a jet ski in heels. As Mariah herself proclaims, it was the first time she was able to be who she really was. And she went full throttle! That was definitely a different Mariah compared to the one we've seen in the "Dreamlover" video. However, I don't love the Honey video as much as I love the Breakdown video! It was the first time Mariah took on many different roles in one sole video. More than that, she took roles of many "Mariahs" that we would see again later on in her career. I love all of them: the cabaret girl, the cowgirl, the show girl and the "butterfly girl"! We've seen the Cowgirl again in TGIFY and Wisegirls promo as well as the show girl in I Stay in Love. Breakdown is definitely my favorite video.

Mariah's pair of nude heels is so absolutely amazing that I almost picked them. They look great with that Herve Leger dress. The Gucci heels are killers shoes too! BUT, I have a very special place in my heart for that pair of Diego Dolcini. He's one of my favorite shoe designers, and those shoes always throw me back to the Rainbow era, Hearbreaker performances... It reminds me of Divas Live. It was the first show I ever watched Mariah singing live and more important, opening a concert of such grandiosity as the Divas Live.

I can tell that you guys really, really like that old school Mariah. Divas Live 1998 hair winning, you guys yelling at me because of her first hair "style" ... I'm so sorry I didn't include the "natural" curly Mariah in those pictures. The reason I didn't do that is probably because that hair will never exist and be done again, as it was her real hair. But I like the innocence of that hair. However, I picked TEOM Wavy because that hair was just to fabulous, so mermaid-ish... I do not include the crazy extensions (See 48th Grammy!) that she used to get, but that wavy, shiny, hazel-color hair that we all love!

Mariah at the 62nd Cannes Festival

"What do I say? What do I do?" (NTT!!)

Mariah... I had high very, VERY high expectations for this event. Unfortunately, Mariah decided to go with something very simple as much as this spaghetti straps column dress. Doesn't it look very Missoni, or that's just me? I really didn't like this choice. She could have done so much better than this. The dress sure is gorgeous but not got this event. This could almost be "Do you Know Where You're Going To" Post.

I didn't like the hair. I guess I should say I didn't like the bangs. There's something wrong with those waves. Her makeup was beautiful and I think she was wearing Gucci shoes.

"I Wish You Knew" - Cannes 2009

Mariah has a big mission tomorrow: walk the Red Carpet at Cannes 2009 in France. And she'd better walk it. She's usually not one to strut down the red carpet, but I'm really hoping she does this year. Getting Cannes status is utterly important for your career, especially when you're a singer. It means that you had an outstanding performance in a role, and Mariah sure did.

Mariah leaves for Cannes 05/14/09

A very relaxed Mariah was seen at LAX Airport last night boarding to Cannes, for the film festival that takes place on May 15th.
She wore this purple maxi-dress with a deep plunge neckline underneath ivory Diane Von Furstenberg Hoxer Cardigan and purple Yves Saint Laurent Lola Satin Platform Slides. Who cares if it is nighttime? Mariah is always expected to wear one of her amazing pairs of sunglasses and here she wore Christian Dior Suite.

I was actually very surprised that she wore those shoes. We don't really see Mariah wearing slides, but I guess she decided to go all purple here. You can see that her figure looks slimmer here compared to last post's. But remember what I said about one shoulder dresses. If you do not recall, then click here.

I really like this look. I think it's very casual yet sophisticated. Her hair color looks very natural and shiny as I haven't seen in a long time.

"Mine Again" - One-Shoulder Dress

Mariah landed in LA on May 8th, arriving from her honeymoon at the Maldives. She looked extremely relaxed and happy.
She wore this black one-shouldered dress that ties up on the shoulder with black patent sandals, black bag, Gucci 2561 sunglasses, and covered up a bit in a black cardigan. I like the fact that she wore a bag, but I'm not a huge fan of this one in particular. It's a casual, every day bag.

As you can see in the picture, she's worn this dress before, when she was on her way to South Africa last month. She wore it with the same shoes.

"Can't Let Go" - Black One-Shoulder Dresses

Here's Mariah wearing one-shoulder dresses again. To be honest, I dont really like the one shoulder thing. There's something about the geometry of the dress and the breasts that make the look a bit weird and disproportional. A lot of people are going to say that Mariah looks fat on the pictures from May 8th, but I'll tell you that that's the dress. I don't find these dresses flattering and it doesn't look good on camera.

This is such an amazing achievement that there are no words to describe how thankful I am to everyone that has visited the website. The blog's had over 10,000 visitors since I started it one year ago and what makes me happy is that the majority of that are the LAMBS! I started the blog for you and I feel like I've been rewarded. The support and continued devotion that I receive from you guys is unparalleled.

Mariah Celebrates First Wedding Anniversary

Mariah and Nick celebrated their first wedding anniversary last night at the Moon Nightclub. Click here to watch a very funny clip of Chelsea Handler on the special occasion.

Mariah looked extremely happy and in cloud nine! Isn't it amazing how one year went by so fast?!

I believe Mariah wore this white gown for the pre-night out party. This looks like a Roberto Cavalli or Chance. I'm not sure though. I really, really love this look. It reminds me of VH1 Save the Music in 2005. The only thing I'm not really feeling is those sleeves. I think she could've done just a halter neck and that's would've done it. But, that's minor! I think that overall she looked great!

She brought the house down rocking this pink pearl beaded spaghetti strap dress. I like this dress. I think it looks very lingerie-ish. The dress code was "HOT", but I will let this one for you guys to decide.

"I Wish You Knew" - First Wedding Anniversary

Mariah and Nick are celebrating their first anniversary tonight!!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Here my wish list for tonight! :)

The reason I picked these dresses is because they're something that Mariah could actually wear, based on her style. First off, they're all short, so she can flaunt "the rarity". I picked two Herve Leger from the Spring 2009 collection because it is very likely that she will wear an outfit from the Designer. Other neutral colors are the Givenchy Spring 2009, Gucci Fall 2009, Emilio Pucci Fall 2009 and Collette Dinnigan Spring 2009. I love Dinnigan's designs, although I think that those are the least likely Mariah would wear. That is also true for the flowing Roberto Cavalli, but I just thought that if she wanted to add some hotness (that's the theme of the party), that would be a great dress. Loewe's dress is definitely one of my favorites of this season. I love the feathers and aassymetry of the dress on the top and the golden accessories. Pucci's is also one of my favorites!

And of course, we could not leave the shoes out!

The shoes certainly depend on the outfit, but these are all favorites for me. My favorites are:

"For the Record" - Partnership

I guess it is obvious at this point to all you readers that I do not focus on the music aspect of Mariah's career. It is with great pleasure that I will introduce you guys to someone who will do a much better job at this than me.

"A Sudden Flashback To" - Divas 1998

Ah Divas...

1998 in music was marked by two divas solely: Celine and Mariah Carey. Celine for her performance of "My Heart Will Go On" and Mariah for her album "Butterfly". So Divas Live could not have left none of those two out.

I believe there's not one person on this land that doesn't remember Mariah's memorable performance on that concert. I'd even go a step further and say that there's not one person on this land that doesn't remember Mariah's HAIR on that concert. Mariah's hair was extremely frizzy, big and unforgettable.

Introduced by Jen Aniston, Mariah opened the show with a great performance of My All. She wore this spaghetti strappy shimmering gold long dress that was clearly very heavy as it was all beaded. She paired the dress with chunky heels that had a transparent wide strap. I really can't talk about the shoes because honestly I find them hideous, but I bet that ten years ago they were a hit!

Mariah's hair was extremely big and she's said once that she sat there on the chair and just let her hair dresser do whatever he wanted. Obviously, he got a little bit carried away and that was not really what she wanted. But, on a positive side, I think that if you're going for Diva, he hit the jackpot! Mariah totally worked that hair with her personality, performance and outfit. I love that hazel tone of her hair.

After singing Make It Happen in the same outfit, she went back stage and a while later came back out again in a different dress to perform Chain of Fools with the one and only Aretha Franklin.

It seems to me like there was something wrong with that dress. I mean, looking from the angle above, it seems fine, but when you have a front view of the dress, something doesn't match. The dress itself is a strapless super-short mini tube dress. To cover up a little bit more, she wrapped something that looks like a sarong around her waist. In all honesty, I think that she nailed it. The fringed "sarong", if you will, was a much better option rather than putting a plain black strapless dress one. It added an edge to the whole outfit. It's one of those things that only Mariah can pull off like the ripped Levi's jeans, crochet tops, knotted-on-the-back tops...

For the big finale, Mariah changed again into a black dress that had hues of blue.

When put among the other Divas, Mariah stood out too much, not only because she was the tallest of all, but because of the hair and most noticeable, because she was the one wearing the short dress. It's hard to look at the dress from far, but I did find pictures of Mariah with that dress on for the rehearsals.

For rehearsals, she had her hair flat. That dress really throws me back to the Butterfly era. Remember performances of Butterfly live, Honey... But it is definitely not my favorite. I'm glad she did not wear her hair down for the performance.

Now I'm excited to see your comments about that... I'm expecting mixed opinions...

Mariah Arrives at Four Seasons George V Hotel - 12/16/05

So, since hair has been the hot topic here lately, I decided to post this and see what you guys think.

This is how Mariah arrived at the Four Seasons George V Hotel in Paris in 2005. Looking at it, it's really not something unusual: short dress, boots, big hair, big sunglasses. But let me break it down to the singularities of this outfit.

This dress is too baggy on her. Had she had a belt on, it'd have looked much better. There's not waist line at all, and that's not what you should go for if you're looking for elegance. Speaking of elegance, I think she looked absolutely GREAT in navy blue. That's the only time that I've seen Mariah in that color, as far as I remember. I wish she'd wear it more. I wish the sleeves would have been a bit longer too.

I love the 70's vintage look that those Christian Dior sunglasses bring out. I really like them!

The boots are by far my least favorite boots ever! I'm really not feeling that suede with the leather... I guess I have a thing against suede!

The hair is really working for me. Half of it is not hers, but I like the color and the curls. What astounds me the most is the contrast of the hair color with the navy blue of the dress! So pretty. I like the bangs to the side. The sunglasses are also a very nice complement to the hair color and the make-up!

PS.: And I keep asking myself all along: Where's the cleavage in that dress?!

"When I Saw You" - Mariah celebrates 'Anniversary' in London - 03/27/05

MOVING ON, Mariah celebrated her 35th birthday at the Tantra club in London amidst the European leg of the tour to promote the TEOM album.

I was really excited about posting this per Tilty's request a while ago. Mariah looked extremely beautiful in this modified Roberto Cavalli Fall 2005.

I was trying to find 'A' picture to post, but all the shots from that appearance were so beautiful that I had to put a little collage together.

She wore this silky, diamond encrusted dress that had a draped top with a white (faux) fur stole that she later dropped to reveal her amazing figure. I really like the detailing on the top with the diamonds. I also applaud the fact that she kept the whole ensemble in white, silver and diamonds. The only other color she wore was the golden of her hair!

At the clsoe-up, look how beautfiul she was. Her hair looked very smooth and shiny and I AM LOVIN' that make up. It was made in a way to draw the attention to her eyes. GORGEOUS!

I'm going to start this new column tonight. I've been thinking about it for a while and I believe that it'll be very helpful in addressing errors in previous posts, posting about designers of outfits that I posted about before, or where to find those perfect shoes that Mariah has worn.

And to start with, I want to come clean on the comments that has been generated over Mariah's appearance on Sunday.

"I don’t know what was worse, the bleak angles and bright peach
dress just to be festive(we had fun!) Or the b.s. commentary/blogs.
B.S story and some pics I couldve definitely lived w/out(Nick
looked cute tho: ) Just so the fans who care know..those pics

This was Mariah's update on her twitter yesterday. Of course she could've seen the pictures anywhere on the Internet, but it is hard to tell which blogs she was referring to. In any case, I wanted to make it clear that when I started this blog, I had in mind that I needed to do this, not only because I love fashion, but most importantly because I wanted to show devotion in some way to my favorite artist in this entire world. As to all of the lambs, Mariah has carried me thru so many difficult times with her music that there are no words in any language (me speaking both Portuguese and English) that would describe how grateful I am to her for embracing wholeheartedly the gift of music that God's given her to help us. Most people listen to the mainstream songs like Touch My Body, We Belong Together, Always Be My Baby. But you all know that I am referring to her incredible and prolific songwriting as seen in Close My Eyes, Outside, Looking In, Bye Bye, Hero, and counting.

As in the description of the blog, I promise to post about the rollercoaster ride that Mariah's wardrobe has been. I dont think that that should be seen as a negative thing. We all have ups and downs in every aspect of our lives. You hair can look great today, but it was not so hot yesterday. Your combination of pants and top that looked great when you put on in front of the mirror really didn't look that good once you stepped out and people noticed it. Your financial situation might not be as expected, so you'll have to hold off on that 'single', if you will. When Mariah plays it more casual, it doesn't necessarily means that she is going to look terribly bad. Along the same lines, I DO NOT EXPECT Mariah to be wearing a floor-length designer gown AT ALL TIMES. Life is not a red carpet all the time and I understand that.

As far as the weight that she has gained, I agree in that the angle of the pictures did not favor her figure, even though it was nice of her to step out for the paparazzi. Mariah has said time and again that she has a muscular physique, which weighs more than fat. I think Mariah looks great. As I said in the post, I'm not opposed to her weight gaining. At this point, I can care less for weight fluctuations. Mariah is a human being and as so, she will act like one. She is a singer, not a model. Which leads me to Tyra Banks, who's someone that I learned how to admire for her enterpreneurship and willingness to help people through the shows she produces. I remember when Tyra decided to retire from modeling because she could not handle being a skinny girl, because she wasn't one genetically. I look at Tyra today and I see a grown woman, happy in her own skin. I think Mariah feels the exact same way with her body and as long as she is happy with it, then I am too. She's got a husband that loves her for who she is and makes her happy in a marriage that most people were ready to write-off after the first month. But guess what, "when it's for real, it's forever".

Regarding the color of the dress, I do apologize for the cultural differences. It was unknown to me that bright colors were worn on Easter Sunday as I am not from this country. I am, however, willing to lear as much as I can about America, I love the people here, the culture, and that's why I am here.

Last but not least, it doesn't matter whether or not I like her latest hair trend, her casual outfit, her "do you know where you're going to" ensemble... at the end of the day, I LOVE MARIAH for who she is and I WILL ALWAYS WILL stand by whatever she does.

Mine Again - Mariah out and about San Diego 04/12/09

Continuing to sport a hair-do that most of us here do not like, Mimi was spotted in San Diego wearing a much "luscious pink" dress with hubby Nick Cannon matching tie.
I instantly recognized this dress as she has worn it twice before. I believe it is an Alaia design. Click here and check out when I posted about it last year. This time she chose Christian Louboutin Amelissa Platform Sandals to match the over-the-shoulders cardigan.

My opinion about wearing the same outfit twice did change, I really think Mariah's allowed to do that if she wants to. However, I never liked this dress. I never liked the length, the design itself or what Mariah pairs with it. I still think she wore it better in 2007 with black. This dress accentuates the lbs that she has gained, which I'm not opposed to. However, the length shortens her figure and makes her look much older. I don't think she should have accessorized with a long necklace, as she has the cardigan tied up already. It's just too much.

The 2007 version is clearly a winner for me. Her hair looks better pulled back and I like the black and white look.

Mariah leaves her apartment - 04/07/09

Honey, sometimes it's all about the shoes. The shoes can save one heck of a horrible outfit.

Mariah did not look bad at all here, just casual, in black leggings, white tank and black cardigan. BUT by adding these fabulous Gucci platforms, she takes this outfit to a whole different level. I predicted she would wear these, first because they are Gucci, second because they're super high!

These shoes are 6" high and cost around $1,200. But when you're Mariah Carey those two features are things that you don't worry about! She works them so well in this occasion and adds an extra that is rarely seen on her: a handbag. I really wish she'd sport those more often, even if they're empty! lol

I'm going to excuse the hair, since she did a great job with everything else, including the shades!

Mariah showed up to L.A. Reid's 38th Birthday party in this floor length animal print Roberto Cavalli gown.
You can look at this photo and 2005 screams at you! The hair, the make-up, even the dress style.

No doubt that she looks great, but I wish she would have put a little bit more color on; maybe some more blush, I guess. I feel like this dress washes her off. It would have looked good, had she had some tanning before hand.

A big NO NO for me on this is that I can see her bra. TOO BAD!

I love her hair though! I picked this one not only "for the Nostalgia" of the TEOM moments, but mostly because of "Newstalgia", as I could not post another picture of MC with "that" hair! lol

"Mine Again" - Roberto Cavalli Dress

Mariah had worn the same dress in late March during her visit to Japan, when she stopped by Utaban TV to perform We Belong Together. Nothing really changed, but her hair. Maybe it was a better choice to wear the dress to perform a ballad, rather than a Birthday party.

"Can't Let Go" - Missoni Dresses - Mariah at One&Only Cape Town Resort Opening 04/02/09

Mariah has really got her Missoni on lately!

After Nelson Madela's foundation luncheon, she partied it up with hubby Nick at the opening of One&Only Resort in Cape Town.

Her "Missoni wave" kept going with this modified Missoni Spring 2009 maxi-dress.

Just like the ensemble she wore for her Anniversary last weekend, I am really not feeling this one either. She had her version modified to halter instead of strapless but kept the beading on the waist line.
I do like the fact that she's wearing something that I would have not expected as far as high fashion goes.

Mariah at the Mandela's Children Foundation Luncheon 04/02/09

Ok, we can't see much of this look, but I decided to post it anyway. She looks extremely elegant in this grey dress, that seems to be a modified version of this Missoni Spring 2009 caftan. Her hair really doesn't look the best, and she barely has any make up on. By the shine on her skin, it must have been really hot across the pond! I wish she would've done something different with her hair. It looks like she's got some unfinished dreads on.

Even with virtually no make up on, doesn't she look amazing? She dressed so appropriately, not only for her age but also for the occasion. I just hope that her dress wasn't as short as the model's.
